links of the week

This was kind of a slow week for cool, really life-changing stuff on the interwebs, so here are the few things that caught my attention this week.

* Democracy and Christianity

John MacArthur has a very interesting look at the connection and impact of democracy on Christianity and vice versa,

* Shout to God

Do you ever feel self-conscious about expressing expressly biblical forms of worship in church? Mark Altrogge recounts his experience expressing his devotion for God. Helpful and kinda funny.

* Spurgeon on Repentance…

Ray Ortlund loves to unearth these great quotes that 99% of us would never know about otherwise, so I love to bring them to you. Again, I would link it but it is so easy just to post it here for you!

"Remember that the man who truly repents is never satisfied with his own repentance. We can no more repent perfectly than we can live perfectly. However pure our tears, there will always be some dirt in them; there will be something to be repented of even in our best repentance. But listen! To repent is to change your mind about sin, and Christ, and all the great things of God. There is sorrow implied in this; but the main point is the turning of the heart from sin to Christ. If there be this turning, you have the essence of true repentance, even though no alarm and no despair should ever cast their shadow upon your mind."

C. H. Spurgeon, All Of Grace, page 70.

* How to carry your Bible

This is just funny to me. I think the author is serious, but I can’t tell...
